A day’s collections at a temple across counters, website and kiosk in Netra

What is a temple management system?

A temple management system is the software a temple office runs on: counter receipts for puja (worship) and seva (offerings made in a devotee’s name), donations, online bookings, a devotee register, and a check that what was collected actually reached the bank. On SwaDharma a small mandir can begin with the Netra counter alone, then add a website and kiosk, dharmashala (pilgrim rest house) rooms in Kshetra, live darshan streaming and Inventory for the stores — all built by 3ioNetra in Mumbai.

Who it’s for

From a neighbourhood shrine to a pilgrimage temple

The difference between a temple with one priest and a temple with twenty counters is not the software category — it is how many modules you switch on.

A single shrine or neighbourhood mandir

One person at a desk, a receipt book and a register of yearly sevas. Netra replaces both on a laptop or a phone, and prints on the 58 mm thermal printer you may already own.

  • Counter software or the collection app on a phone
  • Your paper Shashvat Seva register imported once
  • Counter screens in Marathi, Hindi, Tamil and four more languages

A busy city temple

Queues on festival mornings, devotees who live abroad, and trustees who want to know what was collected online. Counters, the temple website and a kiosk share one receipt ledger.

  • Several counters, each operator seeing only their own
  • Booking website with devotee OTP login
  • Darshan tickets with time slots and head-count limits

A pilgrimage temple

Pilgrims who stay overnight, an annadanam (free meals) kitchen, prasadam (sanctified food) counters and an evening aarti that families watch from home.

  • Kshetra for dharmashala rooms and dormitory beds
  • Inventory for kitchen stock and prasadam
  • Darshan to stream temple CCTV live, 24×7

Problems we hear in temple offices

What goes wrong with receipt books and registers — and what replaces them

Every row below is a common complaint in temple offices, matched to the part of the suite that handles it today.

A day in the temple office

From the first token at dawn to the Tally export at night

Here is one ordinary day at a mid-sized temple, hour by hour, and which app is doing the work.

The first family of the day gets token 007

The operator opens Counter 1 in Netra. Token numbers keep the queue honest, and the Abhishekam lane shows its cut-off time so nobody books a seva the priest can no longer perform today.

  • Puja, donation and darshan-ticket lanes on one screen
  • Daily limits per channel — counter, website and kiosk
  • Cash, cheque, NEFT, UPI, POS card or pay later

Start small

A four-step path that doesn’t ask you to change everything at once

Most temples begin with the counter. Each later step is a separate module you can add when the earlier one is settled.

  1. Netra counter

Replace the receipt book. We import your devotee list and paper Shashvat Seva register, set up your sevas and print your first receipt with you. ₹999 a month after a three-month free trial.

  2. Website and kiosk

Give devotees who never reach the counter a way to book and donate. Website plans from ₹999 a month; a kiosk is ₹999 per device. Both write into the same ledger.

  3. Kshetra rooms and halls

When the temple runs a dharmashala, bhakta nivas (devotee lodge) or kalyana mandapam (wedding hall), move bookings, deposits and refunds off the register and into Kshetra.

  4. Inventory stores

When the kitchen, prasadam and jewellery need an audit trail, add Inventory with committee approvals for purchases. Indicative plans from ₹30,000 a year.

Is SwaDharma suitable for a small temple with one counter?

Yes. A small temple can use only the Netra counter — on a laptop, or on a phone through the collection app — for ₹999 a month after a three-month free trial. It prints on A4/A5/A6 or 58/80 mm thermal printers, so you rarely need new hardware.

What is the difference between a temple management system and Tally?

Tally keeps the books; a temple management system creates the records that go into them. Netra issues the seva and donation receipts, keeps the devotee register and reconciles collections, then exports Tally XML vouchers. Read can a temple run on Tally alone?

Can you move our paper registers into the software?

Yes. Netra imports your devotee list from Excel or CSV, and our team imports your paper Shashvat Seva register so yearly sevas carry forward on the right tithi or nakshatra.

Do devotees need to install an app?

No. Devotees book on your temple’s website and sign in with a one-time password; they can install that website on a phone like an app if they want. The DharmaID devotee identity in the Setu app is on a waitlist, not yet generally available.

Does the software count the hundi?

No. The suite records receipted collections only. For hundi counting, use our free hundi counting sheet and procedure.

Which languages can temple staff use?

It depends on the app. Netra runs in English, Hindi, Marathi, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu and Gujarati; Inventory in six of those (not Kannada); DMS in English, Hindi, Marathi and Kannada. Kshetra and Darshan are in English.

How do we choose between temple software vendors?

Start with the receipts: ask whether numbers can ever repeat, how corrections are logged and whether online and counter receipts share one series. Our checklist for choosing temple management software covers the rest.

Show us your receipt book. We’ll show you your first week on Netra.

A 30-minute walkthrough with your own sevas, prices and counters set up, so the committee judges it on the temple’s real work.
