What is Vani?

Vani is a messaging platform for temples and religious trusts that sends SMS, WhatsApp and email from one console and one prepaid wallet. It checks SMS text against your registered DLT template, as TRAI rules require, submits WhatsApp templates to Meta and tracks their approval, and protects email lists from bounces. Temple software connects once through a single API. Vani runs at vani.swadharmasetu.com and is built by 3ioNetra in Mumbai.

Temples under our care

Temples, maths (monastic institutions) and trusts across India use Setu to serve their devotees. Meet some of the institutions we work with, and explore the full list.

One panel for every message

Everything a temple sends to devotees, in one place

Vani replaces the bulk-SMS login, the WhatsApp phone on the office desk and the mailing list in someone’s inbox. Each tab below is a real part of the product.

Devotee lists that understand families

In many households, a whole family shares one phone number. Vani de-duplicates lists on contact and name, so S. Kulkarni and R. Kulkarni on the same number both stay on the list, while true duplicates are removed.

  • Reusable lists from CSV, with merge and overlap checks before you send
  • Per-recipient variables such as name, seva and date in every message
  • Schedule, pause and resume broadcasts; see each devotee’s message history

  • Drag-and-drop flows across SMS, WhatsApp and email
  • Waits and conditions between steps
  • Branching on a devotee’s WhatsApp reply
  • One flow instead of several separate broadcasts

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Does a temple need DLT registration to send SMS?

Yes. TRAI rules require any organisation sending commercial SMS in India, including a temple trust, to register its entity, sender headers and message templates on a telecom operator’s DLT portal. Vani stores those registrations and checks each message against them. Our DLT registration guide walks through the steps.

Can we send bulk WhatsApp messages to devotees?

Yes, as Meta-approved WhatsApp templates. Vani builds the template, submits it to Meta, syncs the approval status and sends it to your list. Devotees who reply STOP are added to the opt-out list automatically.

How is Vani priced?

Vani charges per message from a prepaid wallet, with a rate card for each channel. There are no published plans; request pricing with your expected channels and volumes.

What happens when family members share one phone number?

They stay separate. Vani de-duplicates lists on the contact and the name together, so two family members on one number each get their own message, while exact duplicates are removed.

Does Vani work with Netra?

The Netra connection is rolling out: booking confirmations, OTPs and receipts by SMS, WhatsApp and email. DMS already sends its property, tax and hearing reminders through Vani.

Does Vani send push notifications or RCS messages?

No. Vani sends SMS, WhatsApp and email only. It does not send app push notifications or RCS messages.

Which messaging providers does Vani use?

SMS goes through AWS End User Messaging, Karix or TrustSignal; WhatsApp through AWS, Karix, QuickReply.ai or TrustSignal; email through Amazon SES, ZeptoMail or TrustSignal. Routing and failover between them are automatic.
