What is DharmaID?

DharmaID is the personal devotee identity that the Setu app will give each devotee. One profile, verified by your mobile number, holds your gotra (family lineage), nakshatra (birth star), sampradaya (tradition) and family members. Temples on Setu already issue numbered receipts through Netra; at launch, the app will bring a devotee’s receipts, bookings and seva history from those temples together under one DharmaID. It is pre-launch, with a waitlist open now.

  • One profile

  • Family profiles

Parents, spouse and children under one account

  • Receipts in one place

  • Free for devotees

Payments go to the temple, not to us

Temples under our care

Temples, maths (monastic institutions) and trusts across India use Setu to serve their devotees. Meet some of the institutions we work with, and explore the full list.

How it will work

How DharmaID will work

DharmaID is not live yet. This is how it is designed to work when the Setu app launches.

  1. Join the waitlist

Leave your name, email and mobile number on the waitlist. We invite waitlist members to early access first.

  2. Claim your DharmaID

Sign up in the Setu app with your mobile number and a one-time password, then add your gotra, nakshatra, sampradaya and family.

  3. Book, donate, visit

At a temple on Setu — at its counter, on its website or at its kiosk — each puja, seva or donation gets the temple’s own numbered receipt.

  4. See it all in one place

Your receipts, bookings and seva history from connected temples, gathered under one DharmaID.

Your gotra, nakshatra and sampradaya — filled in once

Every puja asks the same questions. Your DharmaID will keep the answers: your gotra (family lineage), nakshatra (birth star) and sampradaya (tradition), alongside a mobile number verified by OTP.

  • No new form at every temple you visit
  • Details shared with a temple only when you book or donate there
  • The waitlist asks only for your name, email and mobile number

How DharmaID will connect to the Setu platform

Temples already run Setu apps for their counters, websites and live darshan. DharmaID is the devotee side that will tie those records to one person. These connections are planned for launch; none of them is live yet.

  • Netra — puja, seva and donation receipts from temple counters, linked to your DharmaID
  • Netra’s website & kiosk — online and kiosk bookings in the same history
  • Darshan — live darshan from connected temples, a tap away in the app
  • Family profiles recognised at every connected temple

For temples

For temples: start with Netra’s website & kiosk today

A temple on Netra already gives devotees a booking website with OTP login, a self-service kiosk and the same numbered QR receipt everywhere. Those are the records the Setu app is being built to bring together under each devotee’s DharmaID.

  • Temple website with puja, donation and darshan-ticket booking
  • Devotee OTP login on the temple’s own site
  • Self-service kiosk with automatic thermal receipts
  • See software for temples for the full suite

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Something else? Write to [email protected] or join the waitlist.

Is DharmaID available now?

Not yet. DharmaID is pre-launch: the Setu app is in early access and the waitlist is open. Join the waitlist and we will invite you as access opens.

What is the difference between SwaDharma, Setu and DharmaID?

SwaDharma is our website brand. Setu is the overall platform — a bridge between temples and devotees, bringing together the app and temple software. DharmaID is your personal identity within Setu: your profile, your family and your records. The devotee app is in early access.

How will DharmaID be verified? Do I need Aadhaar or PAN?

DharmaID is planned to be verified through your mobile number with a one-time password (OTP). The waitlist asks only for your name, email and mobile number — no Aadhaar or PAN. If any other identity check is added before launch, we will explain it on this page and in our privacy policy first.

Will DharmaID cost anything?

No. DharmaID will be free for devotees. When you book or donate, you pay the temple through the temple’s own payment gateway, and the temple issues the receipt.

Will my receipts show 80G details?

Receipts are issued by the temple, not by SwaDharma. Where a trust holds 80G registration, Netra prints its 80G number and wording on the receipt, and the app will show that receipt. Filing Form 10BD and issuing Form 10BE remain the trust’s responsibility.

Which temples will be connected?

Temples that run on Setu apps such as Netra. See the institutions on Setu in our temple directory.

Is my spiritual data private?

DharmaID is being designed so that your profile is shared with a temple only when you choose to. Our privacy policy and security page explain how SwaDharma handles data.

Our temple wants to be part of DharmaID. What should we do?

Start with Netra’s website & kiosk for your website, online donations and kiosk, or book a demo. Temples on Setu apps are the ones the DharmaID app will connect to.
